Families across Jordan live in damaged homes that provide little protection from harsh weather. We're on the ground rehabilitating these homes so that families have safety, warmth and dignity.
Jordan faces a complex set of challenges that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020-21, political instability and COVID-19 substantially expanded humanitarian needs across all nationalities in Jordan.
Food Aid
More than half (58%) of refugee households are food insecure and the other half are vulnerable to food insecurity. Female-headed households, small households, and households with persons/members with disabilities continued to have disproportionately poor food consumption.
In response to this crisis, our teams on the ground in Jordan have provided life-saving assistance to over 6,000 people in need over the past year. This takes the form of vouchers that are valid for food and Non-Food Items (NFI).
Shelter
Four out of five Syrian refugees in Jordan live in urban areas, often under extreme poverty.
Families who can't afford to continue living in Jordan may often have to return to Syria, and active crisis zone.
Through our shelter projects, we have rehabilitated and renovated dozens of damaged households, improving the health and safety increasing economic opportunities within the community.
