Turkey
In February 2023, a devastating earthquake struck the regions of Turkey and Syria, leaving behind a trail of destruction, loss, & despair.
The Earthquake
Action For Humanity regional headquarters in Gaziantep were directly impacted by the earthquake and the subsequent aftershocks, that killed over 55,000 and injured a further 100,000.
16% of the entire population of Turkey, some 14 million people, were directly impacted by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Based in Gaziantep, we were the leading responder in the fallout of the devastation.
Amidst the chaos and heartbreak, Action For Humanity provided immediate relief and support to the affected communities. We swiftly launched a comprehensive response to address the urgent needs of the affected communities in Turkey and Syria.
Our Work
Our response initiatives included the distribution of food assistance and non-food item (NFI) kits, the clearance of roads for rescue operations, and the provision of vital healthcare services through mobile clinics.
AFH supported 89,750 households, equivalent to 503,660 individuals, and through your support, we were able to provide £4 million in assistance.
